Savoring a cup of flavorful tea after returning from a chilly afternoon walk is one of the shining moments of my day. I exchange my hiking boots for comfy slippers and settle into a soft-cushy chair absorbing the delicious penetrating scent of hot herbal tea.
Combining the age-old tradition of drying and harvesting garden fresh ingredients at their peak conditions, produces a taste and aroma equal, if not superior, to many commercial tea brands.
Cutting and drying tea stems throughout the summer ensures plenty for winter. When the garden work begins to wane, I head for the drying loft to remove tea leaves from their stems and place them into jars for preserving and handcrafting tea blends.
Handmade Tea Bags & Sachets are great holiday gifts for friends and co-workers, and can be quite convenient when traveling. Personalizing your herbal tea blend is easy and fun. This is my favorite blend:
Earl Grey & Lavender
HANDCRAFTED TEA BAGS
1 Tablespoon or 4 leaves and several petals of dried Bee Balm/Monarda.
1 Sprig of dried Lavender leaves & buds
Fill a pre-made purchased Tea Sac (or make a sachet by cutting and folding a coffee filter)
Staple together or tie with a string. For extra detail add a personalized tag or label.
USE ONE TEA BAG PER CUP OF HOT WATER.
If you don't have a garden to harvest herbal teas, I recommend purchasing premium organic-loose tea in bulk here.
Mix any tea variety of spearmint, peppermint, sage, camomile or others to create a Signature Mint Blend here.
"If you are cold, tea will warm you;
if you are too heated, it will cool you;
if you are depressed, it will cheer you;
if you are excited it will calm you."
William Ewart Gladstone
Stay thirsty and well my friends,
