When summer begins to wane and the air turns crisp and chilly, I get a hankering to make corn-leaf wreaths. For years, I've crafted oodles of corn-leaf creations for my customers. These natural materials embody all the elements of fall in one elegant design.
Today, I set out to create an 18th century inspired form, similar to the Rye Crest Wreath I made earlier this year, by folding corn leaves into a base and adorning it with Indian Mallow and Indian Fall Grass. I refer to this Wreath Style as a Corn-Leaf Medallion.
I'll be experimenting with more medallion designs this season. Stay tuned and let me know what you think.
