A hillside ablaze in goldenrod is a sure sign of summer's end.  As the days shorten and fall colors begin to tantalize the senses, goldenrod fills the countryside with one last burst of sunny yellow.  This humble weed (from the Solidago genus - Asteracea family) is one of my favorite wildflowers.

An arrangement of Goldenrod and Pokeberry (shown above) has a simple yet striking rural charm.  The yellow bracts create a strong contrast to red-stemmed pokeberries drooping in dazzlingly glossy colors of blackish-purple and olive.  Whatever the intensity of shade, bright sunny flowers bring instant warmth and depth to any room and welcome the changing seasons.

Bring nature home,

WARNING  Pokeberry is highly toxic if ingested. Use discretion around pets and young children.
