A basket of dried sweet annie, artemisia, oregano and tea from the summer garden is the perfect "pick-me-up" during winter's bleakest months. The aromatic scent of this basket freshens any room or office space better than synthetic air fresheners or silk flowers. When gathered at the right time, these herbs can be perfectly preserved throughout the year and utilized for aromatherapy.
Just recently a friend ordered this basket (above) to cheer a friend in need, which solidifies the fact that dried botanicals have a similar calming effect to fresh flowers. Since flowers brighten moods on gray days, I like to spend winter evenings making a list of plants to include in my summer garden. If you would like to know which herbs I used in this arrangement they are as follows:
HERBS & FLOWERS
All of these plants dry rather easily by hanging them upside down. They are also the herbs I use to calm and encourage relaxation. Include these everlasting herbs in your spring planting this year to evoke a memory of warmer days next winter.
