Nature provides beautiful scents for the home that are chemically-free and available to everyone willing to forage for them. Hedge apples are one of my favorite room fresheners. Also known as osage orange or monkey brains, hedge apples grow on trees, and are found in swamps and wetlands. They mature in late November just in time for the holidays. Their light citrusy fragrance, knobby texture, and lime green color is pleasing to the eye and nose. Here are some ideas for using hedge apples around the home.
