THE FIRST SIGNS OF AUTUMN

The fence rows and field lanes are overgrown with seasonal plants and vines. Teasel, thistle, and wildflowers cast their seeds to the wind.   The berries of bittersweet, rosehips, and barberry slowly ripen....turning from lime green to shades of orange and red. Subtle color changes in the landscape make the end of summer  apparent. Clouds actually enhance visibility. I begin to focus on the rain dripping from berries or the moss on a fence post.... easily overlooked in the glare of the sun.
